Yellow blaze lithobates fed Veggie Deluxe formula supplemented with the astaxanthin-rich Cyclop-eeze® for a period of 4 weeks. The blue took on a deep purple hue, while the yellow became very saturated and expanded into the middle of the dorsal fin. The creamy white blaze of the female has turned a nice yellow color likewise. The coloring effects of the food are very strong. As can be seen in both of these fish, not only is the yellow much more developed, but also the blue of the male and the gray of the female is now showing stronger pigment. The principal color enhancers in this formula are the 100% pure spirulina and Cyclop-eeze®, a micro-crustacean produced by Argent Labs. Laboratory research has shown Cyclop-eeze® to not only enhance the color, but actually increase the number of pigment cells in the skin. The combination of cyclop-eeze and spirulina imparts a distinct purple tint to the blue color of these fish. No other color enhancing ingredient has this unique property. Additional caratenoids are supplied by E. superba krill and shrimp meal. At 39% this food has a higher protein content than would be expected from a vegetable based diet. The reason for this is that spirulina, cyclop-eeze, and krill, have a 52-60% protein content. All color gain is from natural ingredients. There are no color dyes, hormones or any artificial colorings in any Dainichi cichlid food. Likewise, there are no carbohydrate-laden fillers such as corn, wheat middlings, wheat gluten or alfalfa which can cause bloat. There are no short cuts and corner cutting when it comes to nutrition. All ingredients are selected to be metabolized quickly and as completely as possible. The digestive enzymes and color enhancing ingredients in all Dainichi foods are in their natural, un-cooked state, which results in an unbelievably clean aquarium and cichlids that are indistinguishable in the richness of color from their wild counterparts. |
